is involved in an accident or near-miss (a near-miss is defined as an event that could have caused injury to a person

), either the employee involved or a leader/supervisor must contact their Program Liaison as soon as possible (preferably within one business day if notification can't be made immediately). See below for contact information for each Program Team.

If an employee is injured while performing ministry responsibilities on the weekend or after normal business hours, please email benefits@reliant.org. See the Workers' Compensation Insurance page for guidance on seeking care for an injury or illness that may be a workers' compensation claim.

The Program Liaison and the Benefits team will coordinate to ensure that Reliant Central has all the information needed for our required record-keeping and, if applicable, Worker Compensation claims. Keep in mind that this may require a series of emails or phone calls to the employee and the leader/supervisor. As the leader/supervisor, your cooperation and attention to the matter are greatly appreciated.

Emotional & Spiritual Safety

Just as leaders have a responsibility for the physical safety of employees and volunteers, the emotional and spiritual safety of your entire team must be a high priority. Working in a ministry setting is a unique employment experience, whether you work 5 hours a week or 50. High levels of stress and burnout are prevalent among those in ministry. The immensely personal nature of the work may lead to blurred relational boundaries, unreasonable expectations of staff, and even spiritual and emotional abuse. Caring for the safety of your staff is essential for a effective and fruitful ministry.
