The government requires Reliant to verify that all new hires are eligible to work in the United States using a Form I-9 within 3 days after their start date. Typically, this is done with a Reliant employee meeting the new hire with their documents to physically inspect them and complete the form. Given the current National Emergency Declaration and widespread stay at home orders, the Department of Homeland Security has made a few allowances during this time. Reliant has responded with adjustments of our own in order to safely verify documents for missionaries who need to be hired but have not yet completed the form.

Please select the statement below that most describes your situation for details on what options are available to have your eligibility verified.

  • We may be able to work with you and a trusted individual to fill out the Form I-9. The following three stipulations must be met in order for this option to be used.
    1. Have the physical originals of required I-9 documents with you.
    2. Have a member of your household or trusted individual willing to serve as a Reliant representative and complete the Form I-9 over DocuSign.
    3. Be able to set up a video-conference within 3 days of your hire date with the two of you and a member of Reliant's Employment Services Department where we will ensure the form is filled out correctly and digitally confirm required documents.
  • If you are unable to meet any one of the above requirements, we can digitally verify your eligibility to work in the United States, which the DHS will allow to suffice until the National Emergency Declaration is lifted. You must also notify Reliant as soon as you know when your stay at home orders will be lifted, so that we can set up a time for your documents to be reverified in person by a Reliant employee or other designated representative.

If you are able to meet all the requirements for the first option, please set up a 20 minute video appointment with the Employment Services team using this link: https://calendly.com/reliantpayroll/i-9-verification. During the appointment, you will need your documents and your trusted individual together. This will greatly help us not have a sudden influx of needed reverifications.

For the second option, we will send you a separate DocuSign envelope with the I-9 and you will need to fill out the form and attach images of your verifying documents

At this time, the DHS has only extended these allowances for a certain time. Reliant will continue to monitor the situation and will reach out closer to your hire date with instructions

The policy amendments above are in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Department of Homeland Security's policy extensions seen on their website here: DHS announces flexibility in requirements related to Form I-9 compliance.

These allowances will be reviewed by the DHS as the pandemic continues to impact the United States. Reliant will continue to monitor their allowances and update this page accordingly.
