titleHow are costs for medical care outside the US handled for Deductible/Out of Pocket purposes?

All international claims are treated as in-network. Deductibles for your existing US medical plan would will apply to any medical treatment costs incurred overseas.  Expense from Expenses for overseas medical services paid towards an employee's deductible and out of pocket expenses will be merged with the employee's US deductible and out-of-pocket amounts for the calendar year.

* Unusual situations or medical care: Guidestone, Reliant's medical insurance provider, has confirmed they could not think of any situation where a standard medical expense incurred outside of the United States would not be considered in-network. If the employee's medical situation is unusual or if the medical treatment being received is not typically allowed under the Guidestones's plan guidelines, there may be very usual circumstances that medical care might be treated as out-of-network. In these unusual scenarios, we always recommend that the employee reach out to BCBS Global Core before receiving medical care to ensure the medical treatment will qualify as in-network.
