Fall Evaluations and New Salaries

We appreciate the ministry of supervision you provide our missionaries! One time Once a year, Reliant missionaries and supervisors evaluate their jobs and review their performance. After evaluations are completed, Reliant Missionary Resources and local supervisors work together works together with Supervisor to set updated salaries for the coming year. This year, we will also have the Reliant Missionaries do an evaluation of their supervisor. This is meant to bring open communication between missionary and supervisor and to be a safe place for talking through the supervisor/missionary relationship.

Salary Setting

The Reliant board has approved a 3% raise for all Reliant missionaries for 2017. Then if a missionary seems ready to move up into a new Missionary Level, has been ordained or commissioned or otherwise seems to warrant a higher salary increase based off your review, Mike Swann, Missionary Resources director, will discuss those with your church/ministry leadership in May. 

Salary levels and salaries will be determined by several key factors. To determine the Ministry Level, we consider scope and burden of responsibility, formal training and years of experience related to the role. New salaries are based on these factors, as well as cost-of-living factors (inflation and geography) and job performance. 

New Evaluation for Missionaries to Submit

This year, Reliant Missionaries are being asked to submit an evaluation of their Ministry Experience. (This Ministry Experience evaluation replaces the Supervisor Evaluation from prior years.) This evaluation meant to provide the missionary an opportunity to evaluate their overall experience of their role, team and supervisor .


Dates to keep in mind

  • Now-April 30: Complete the evaluation of your Reliant Missionaries and share with hr@reliantCori.CrawfordVanOss@reliant.org. 

  • April 30: Deadline for Reliant to receive your evaluation.
  • May 1-31: Schedule with Mike Swann a time for Compensation Review.
    • Reliant will send out a follow-up email in  to schedule this time.
  • June 20: Compensation Notices go out to missionaries.
  • July 15: Deadline for missionaries to accept new salaries.

  1. Complete one form performance evaluation spreadsheet for each missionary you supervise.
    1. Complete the first tab of the evaluation form for ALL missionaries. 
    2. If you believe that it
      1. First Tab of Evaluation –  This must be fully completed for the missionaries you oversee. 
      2. Second or Third Tab of Evaluation – These are to be completed for missionaries if you believe they may be close to

    3. Meet with the missionary you are supervising and provide him/her feedback.
      With regard to how much of the evaluation you share with that missionary, we do not have a policy. However, the evaluation is an excellent tool for feedback and growth. Passionate missionaries like to know how they are doing and how they can grow. 
      1. Reliant carries the value that each missionary receives an annual evaluation of their progress, performance and fruitfulness. As resources providers to the local ministry,  missionaries need to receive regular constructive feedback regarding. If you handle this feedback in another context, that is great.  The minimum commitment of Reliant's Partner Organizations is to give solid feedback at least once a year. 
    4.  Share completed Share completed evaluations with hr@reliant.org by Sunday, April 30.
    5. Please be available for a phone call with Mike Swann between May 1-May 31. These calls typically last 20-30 minutes. We will review together changes needed in ministry levels and salaries. We will send out a sign-up for times as May approaches. 
       
    6. The missionaries will be notified of their new salary offers on Staffnet in mid-June. July 15 is the missionary's deadline for accepting the offer and setting new support goals.
