It's Time for Fall Evaluations and New Salaries

We appreciate the ministry of supervision you provide our missionaries! Once a year, Reliant missionaries and supervisors evaluate their jobs and review their performance. After evaluations are completed, Reliant Missionary Resources works together with Supervisor to set updated salaries for the coming year.

Salary Setting

The Reliant board has approved a 3% raise for all Reliant missionaries for 2017. Then if a missionary seems ready to move up into a new Missionary Level, has been ordained or commissioned or otherwise seems to warrant a higher salary increase based off your review, Mike Swann, Missionary Resources director, will discuss those with your church/ministry leadership in May. 

Salary levels and salaries will be determined by several key factors. To determine the Ministry Level, we consider scope and burden of responsibility, formal training and years of experience related to the role. New salaries are based on these factors, as well as cost-of-living factors (inflation and geography) and job performance. 

New Evaluation for Missionaries to Submit

This year, Reliant Missionaries are being asked to submit an evaluation of their Ministry Experience. (This Ministry Experience evaluation replaces the Supervisor Evaluation from prior years.) This evaluation meant to provide the missionary an opportunity to evaluate their overall experience of their role, team and supervisor .

What to do next?

  1. Create a copy of the performance evaluation spreadsheet.


    1. If you have trouble accessing the Google form, please contact hr@reliant.org.
  1. Complete one performance evaluation spreadsheet for each missionary you supervise.
    1. First Tab of Evaluation –  This must be fully completed for the missionaries you oversee. 
    2. Second or Third Tab of Evaluation – These are to be completed for missionaries if you believe they may be close to a promotion to a new staff level.  Complete  either the Missionary tab or the Pastor/Minister/Ministry Supervisor tab, depending on their staff level. If they are not close to a promotion, you may skip these tabs. 
  2. Meet with the missionary you are supervising and provide him/her feedback.
    1. Reliant carries the value that each missionary receives an annual evaluation of their progress, performance and fruitfulness. As resources providers to the local ministry,  missionaries need to receive regular constructive feedback regarding. If you handle this feedback in another context, that is great.  The minimum commitment of Reliant's Partner Organizations is to give solid feedback at least once a year. 
  3.  Share completed evaluations with hr@reliant.org by Sunday, April 30.
  4. Please be available for a phone call with Mike Swann between May 1-May 31. These calls typically last 20-30 minutes. We will review together changes needed in ministry levels and salaries. We will send out a sign-up for times as May approaches. 
  5. The missionaries will be notified of their new salary offers on Staffnet in mid-June. July 15 is the missionary's deadline for accepting the offer and setting new support goals.
