Q: A donor gave me cash. What do I do?

A: First, remember to thank them! Then see if they are able to give online or by check. If they can't...

    • Go somewhere where you can get a money order (the post office, 7-11, your bank, etc.).

    • Buy a money order for the amount of cash you were given. (Note: There will typically be a small fee for the money order.)

    • In the Pay To space, write Reliant.

    • In the From space, put your fund number and the donor's name.

    • Send the money order and a New Gift Form from Staffnet to Reliant.

Q: If it's a small amount of cash, can I just keep it?

A: No. Any amount of cash needs to be converted to a money order and sent to Reliant.

Q: What if the donor says they don't want me to send it to Reliant?

A: You can say something like, "Thank you so much for you generosity. As a missionary with Reliant, I need to send any donations I receive to Reliant. This helps ensure integrity regarding donations, as well as keeps us in good standing with the IRS."

Q: Will the donor's cash gift be tax-exempt?

A:
