Types of Health Savings Account (HSA) Contributions
Two types of Contributions can be made to a Health Savings Account (HSA):

The IRS has annual limits on the amounts that can be contributed to HSA accounts. The annual combined total of employee contributions + employer HSA contributions cannot exceed the IRS annual limit.
Employee HSA Contributions
Employees elect employee HSA contributions during open enrollment. These HSA contributions are deducted from the employee's paychecks each month as a pre-tax deduction and then deposited directly into the employee's personal HSA bank account.
...
Please note: Your HSA must be open to receive employee or employer contributions. You will receive emails from benefits@reliant.org on setting up your account, so please watch for them.

If you are only covered by a high deductible plan for a portion of the year, your maximum contribution amount is prorated based on the months you are covered. For example, for a single person under 55 who is only covered by a high deductible plan, like the Guidestone HS plans, for one month of the year, their annual max will be $450.00, not $4400.00. Please take this into account if you will be exiting employment before the end of the year. |
Employer HSA Contributions
HSA Employer contributions are paid from non-MTD accounts. Contribution levels are the same across all plans but vary based on the coverage level.
Coverage level | ER contribution paid |
|---|---|
| Employee | $25 |
| Employee + Spouse | $50 |
| Employee + or child(ren) | $50 |
Family | $75 |
