Annual Review

Every year, we offer resources for workers and supervisors to evaluate their year of ministry. This year we've updated our process in a way that we think will foster even better conversations and will provide a framework for setting and achieving the goals that are important to you. For those of you who have been with Reliant for a while, there are a few changes to this process.

  1. No Ministry Experience Survey - The Ministry Experience Survey is now sent alongside the Annual Education requirements in the summer. So no need to look for that or complete it at this point.
  2. Worker-Initiated Reviews - Reliant Workers will begin the Review process by completing some self-reflection questions about their ministry role, ministry skills, celebrations, and goals. (In the past, the Supervisor has begun the process and shared that with the Worker).
  3. Pre-shared Forms - This year, we will be sending a link to your Google Drive folder, which contains an Annual Review template with your name on it, and your job description will be linked inside of the form. There is no need to make a copy from Solomon. It will already be shared with your supervisor, but you will need to re-share it when you are done, so they know you're ready for them to do their part.
  4. Spanish Form - We now have the Supervisor Tab available in Spanish upon request. If you are in another ministry context where language is a hindrance to completing the Review, please let us know!

We are continually looking for ways to make this more helpful and relevant for your ministry. Below are some instructions and FAQs

Note

If your ministry has its own format for annual reviews, you are welcome to use that and send us a copy.

FAQs

UI Expand
titleDo associates need to fill out a review?

This is a valuable exercise for everyone, even if you have fewer ‘official’ responsibilities. We encourage you to participate but do not require it. This year we are offering a condensed version for Associates or Spouses who play a more supportive role and do not have clear supervision.

titleWhat if I just launched?

If you launched within the last 3 months, you do not need to do a review.

UI Expand
titleWho sees my review?

Your review is stored on a Shared Google Drive that is accessible to the International Team and your supervisor. If your review contains sensitive information, you may make a copy onto your own drive and reach out to julie.thompson@reliant.org for next steps.

titleWhat if I am about to exit?

Exiting employees should still complete a review. We believe it will be a valuable exercise as you seek to close this chapter well and prepare for a new one.

titleWhat if I supervise a large team?

Often large teams have one main supervisor, but have a team of leaders. You are free to assign specific reviews to other leaders as makes the most sense within your team dynamic.

Yearly Checklist

The Annual Review period is also a great time to make sure everything with Reliant is up-to-date.

STEPSINFO
  •  Review and update your Support Goal Worksheet

Make sure that your current support goal accurately reflects new insurance premiums, your cost-of-living, ministry reimbursements, and your tenure with Reliant.

Note: We are working on a new Support Goal Worksheet. If you are making significant changes to your support goal or salary, please reach out to us. We would love to begin testing this new sheet in select cases.

  •  Submit your new Support Goal Worksheet
We will not be automatically notified of changes to your Support Goal Worksheet or your salary. Please email international@reliant.org when you are ready to move forward with a new goal or salary.
If you have qualified for FEIE over the last year, added dependents, or had other tax-related changes, it is important to submit a new W4 to Reliant. If you qualify for FEIE, but do not submit a new W4, we will continue to withhold federal income taxes.

This is a great time to review your 401k contributions and make changes, especially if you are updating your salary. Changing your 401k contributions on your Support Goal Worksheet will not trigger changes to Principal. Please login to Principal's website to increase/decrease your contributions.
If your address or phone number has changed over the past year, make sure to notify us. This includes if your permanent US address has changed. Note: If your parents' house is your US permanent address, and they have moved, we need to know that too.
  •  Review Crisis Management Plans
This year we have added a Personal Info tab to your Crisis Management Individual Checklist. Please fill in the requested information and review your Individual Field Plans, updating as needed. We also encourage you to discuss these plans annually with your Team and Supervisor to make sure everything is current.
