MTD can often feel like a long-term, large-scale project, especially when

...

your first

...

experience of the process often involves

...

a lot of data compilation (name-storming) and strategic

...

preparation. We want to introduce a simple

...

strategic MTD tool for those who

...

desire to sustain their support

...

and make the process more of a rhythm and less of a burdensome task. We want to present a way of simplifying MTD that feels more manageable to your schedule and your capacity while you do full-time ministry.

Here is how it works:

Begin by pre-planning three lists of contacts.

  • List 1: New Contacts (These are all new people, leads, or referrals to contact.)
  • List 2: "Non-currents" - These include:
    • Actual partners who have gone non-current - #1 priority!!
    • Special Gift Partners
    • Prayer Partners
  • List 3: Recurring Giving Partners

The goal is to reach out to 2 people on each list each week (2 New Contacts: 2 Non-Currents: 2 Current Partners)

. Not only does this help keep you from becoming overwhelmed with the process, but it also helps you to focus (both prayerfully and physically) on only six specific people each week. Depending on time and capacity, this can be personalized to a 3:3:3 or 4:4:4 etc ratio. ( This also helps to provide a weekly, very attainable goal - allowing for freedom when connections have been attempted or, if time/capacity allow, "bonus" connections to be made. Overall, it creates attainable goals, short-term rewards, and breathing room in your MTD Process.)

Some thoughts for each list:

...

UI Steps

UI Step
  • New Contacts: 2-4 Connection Attempts Per Week
The goal is to set up new appointments and new financial asks.

...

  • This will most likely require two or more connection attempts in a week.

...

UI Step
  • Non-Currents: 2-4 Connection Attempts Per Week:
The goal is to move these "non-currents" to currents. These are people

...

  • you have already built some

...

  • relationships with and are pursuing additional cultivation.
    • For true non-current partners, we are seeking the why and how to make them current/regular givers again.
    • For the Special gift partners and prayer partners, it is a two-fold goal

    ...

        1. Connect and ask for prayer requests
        2. Give another financial ask for recurring giving or another special gift.

    ...

    UI Step
    • Recurring Giving Partners: 2-6 Connection Attempts Per Week
The goal is continued cultivation. This may also require two or more connections within that week, depending on the relationship.
      1. Call: Phone/

    ...

      1. voicemail. If you

    ...

      1. can connect, the goal may be to thank, catch up, prayer requests, & prayer together. This could also potentially include a financial increase or special gift ask if needed.
      2. Text: If you don't connect, a simple text of thanks and/or asking for prayer requests is great.
      3. Call: If you are in a more crucial support-raising season, you might consider a third call/connection attempt.

We hope this new rhythmic style will allow you to continue to cultivate cultivating your current team while continuing to add adding new people along the way.
