Just as leaders have a responsibility for the physical safety of employees and volunteers, the emotional and spiritual safety of your entire team must be a high priority. Working in a ministry setting is a unique employment experience, whether you work 5 hours a week or 50. High levels of stress and burnout are prevalent among those in ministry. The immensely personal nature of the work may lead to blurred relational boundaries, unreasonable expectations of staff, and even spiritual and emotional abuse.
