Three concentric circles of giver types:

Sometimes we can get intimidated by the money piece of ministry. You’re serving givers and ministering to them about their calling. Part of that is giving them knowledge of how God's moving through the ministry and an accessible way to get involved. We're not being manipulative, but we're also not scared.

The Reactive Giver

These are the donors who give when asked. Top of mind givers.

Strategies:

  1. End of year appeals
  2. Events like fundraisers
  3. Increase asks is also something to consider

The Regular Giver

They don’t need to be asked, they just need to be reminded that what they’re doing is important. Once a year, you give them an opportunity to assess what they’re doing and go deeper.

Strategies:

  1. Invite them into the ministry; give them more regular touches
  2. Consider an increase ask after some time
  3. This is a donor to go out of your way to spend time with.

The Logical Giver

These donors are less relational. They often respond to and want to see the numbers, and tend to think more logically (ei: how can my giving tangibly affect the ministry). Consider sharing the ministry game plan with these donors. Show how success can be measured.

Strategies:

  1. Be sure to include numbers on the monthly prayer letter
  2. Ask them to help finish off your giving goals (last $500/month)
  3. Consider asking them to be a part of a greater whole (10 people to give $100/month)
