Who is eligible to receive a Coaching Bonus? 

MTD Coaches are allowed to receive a coaching bonus for MTD coaching that is provided under certain circumstances. Many churches make room within an employee's role for them to be MTD Coaches; it becomes part of their job description. Some churches do not include this in the job description, so coaching happens as an addition, above and beyond their normal work hours. For those situations, Reliant offers a Coaching Bonus as compensation for this additional ministry activity.

Where do the funds come from for the Coaching Bonus? 

The Coaching Bonus is drawn from the MTD account of the MTD coach when the coach submits the Coaching Bonus Form to Reliant. In other words, it comes from funds raised by the coach. In limited situations, Reliant may release funds for coaching to the MTD account of the coach.

Matrix for bonuses 

Bonuses are available when MTD coaching is not part of the coach's regular job description. 

New coaches

(less than two years of coaching experience and fewer than three long-term field workers reaching 100%) 

  • $15/hour for coaching in their own location or network
  • $20/hour for coaching for other network affiliations

Seasoned coaches

(more than two years of MTD coaching experience or more than three long-term field workers reaching 100%)

  • $20/hour for coaching in their own location or network
  • $25/hour for coaching for other network affiliations

For the purposes of determining whether a field worker is outside of the church/ministry, the field worker must be working at an assignment location that is different from the MTD Coach. In the case that a field worker was in the same church as the MTD Coach but then the church sends the field worker to a new assignment location, the field worker will then be considered outside of the church for the purposes of the MTD Coaching Bonus.

Requesting a Coaching Bonus

To submit a bonus request, send the Coaching Bonus form to the Program Team you are under (for example, collegiate.program@reliant.org)

Transfers from Reliant to help fund bonuses

When Reliant assigns an MTD coach, the MTD health team will also provide a transfer to the coach's MTD fund.  

  • $20/hour for coaching new partners or outside of their affiliation — as assigned by the Reliant office
    • Reliant will provide $10/hour when we assign this coach to our priority partnerships.
  • $25/hour for coaching new partners or outside of their affiliation — as assigned by the Reliant office
    • Reliant will provide $15/hour when we assign this coach to our priority partnerships by monthly transfer.

    I think we should also include instructions on how to request a coaching bonus. Do you know that request process? I don't know it.

      they send bonus form to hr (needs updating).  

      I review and approve total. 

      hand it to hr, 

      they put on the next paycheck, based on date of arrival .  standard 20th of the month.

      Yes, BUT... It is accurate; however, I have wondered if my program team needs to provide more to coaches who are serving our team. At this point this matrix is about 4 years old.

    1. Hey Jenni Saniuk! I just looked over this page. Some of it looks good for Fixed Term. Here's where things differ:

      • I'm unsure of the rates of pay for bonuses (unless that's something that's being standardized across the board), as well as the coaching within their network vs. outside their network. Again, if that's something that's being standardized, that's great.
      • "In limited situations, Reliant may release funds for coaching to the MTD account of the coach." Right now, we're transferring funds from 0201 (Fixed Term) to MTD accounts and then paying those out as bonuses in every situation. 
      • Fixed Term also uses 1099 independent contractors (non-Reliant employees) as coaches. Do we need to talk about them on this page?
      1. Hey Carly ErskineThanks for the response! Given the stark differences between Fixed Term and this document, We should likely write a solomon page for FT coaching bonuses with some examples of how to use the tracker. Maybe we can connect on this next week.

    1. Keva AmbreThe Collegiate Program team still uses this page and does allow coaching bonuses.  The page needs to be approved because I changed where the Bonus Request form is supposed to be shared.  No longer MTD@reliant.org, but instead with the Program team email address. (smile)
