Special Gifts - circle back in 6 months

When you get a special gift, it’s not the end of the conversation. It’s just the beginning! It's a very healthy practice for you to continue to engage those who give special gifts.

Some will never sign up for recurring giving, but they WILL consider a gift when asked. Because of this, it's wise we offer these individuals an opportunity to invest every 6 months. See the first sample script below. Also, see Fundamentals for Large Donor Asks.

Some weren't previously able to partner with you but demonstrated an obvious love, passion, and support of the ministry you're doing and would be open to recurring giving in the future. Because financial and life situations change, offer these individuals an opportunity to partner every 6-12 months. See the second sample script. 

Sample script asking for a special gift: 

Your December investment in (people group) here in (city) made a deep impact. You generously gave, and your gift (helped xyz / empowered me) to reach (person) with the healing power of Jesus. I'd love for you to take the next step with me and consider a reinvestment this summer. We're launching/ doing/ reaching... (build a vision for what you're seeking to accomplish over the next 5 months). Would you seek the Lord on if He's empowering you to come alongside us and sow a seed into this ministry this quarter? 

Sample script for converting special gift givers to recurring: 

You are obviously passionate about supporting (people group) here in (city) with the healing power of Jesus. Would you prayerfully consider taking the next step in locking arms with me in ministry? You generously gave a gift, and that helped with some very urgent short-term needs. Thank you for that! Because of your gift, I was able to ____. I’m sure you know that to be sustainable in this ministry, to be able to continue reaching (people) with the gospel; I need people who are investing in the long term. Would you reconsider partnering with me by giving on a regular basis? Some give monthly, others do a quarterly gift, still, others like to take that special gift amount, increase it and make it an annual thing. Will you let me know what works for you?
