Once a year, you and each of your covered family members can individually choose between CVS® or Walgreens® as your in-network retail pharmacy chain.
Regardless of which major chain is selected (CVS or Walgreens), you can still also choose to fill prescriptions at any of the 55,000+ other in-network pharmacies or mail order* (as shown in the In-Network column below).

How do I review my current selection or make a new selection?
Follow these steps to review or select your preferred major pharmacy chain (CVS or Walgreens) for 2026:
- Register your account or log on at Express-Scripts.com.
- Select “Account”.
- Select “Pharmacy Preferences”.
Selections usually take 24 hours to process.
What happens when I make a change?
When you select your preferred major pharmacy chain for the first time or change your existing selection:
- The major chain selected will remain your choice for the calendar year.
- The other major chain will be considered out-of-network.
What happens if I don’t need to make a change?
If you choose to continue your CVS or Walgreens selection from last year, no action is needed.
What happens if I have a qualifying life event?
If you have a qualifying life event, contact Express Scripts® Pharmacy Benefit Services if you need to switch between CVS and Walgreens more than once in a calendar year.
