As US Missionaries with Reliant consider transitioning to an International role, there are various aspects of employment with Reliant that are similar and others that are different from employment in US role.

Differences between US and Int'l ______?

Assessment Process 

There will be a look into the key things that are changing in the new role, without redoing the entire assessment process. However, this does mean that an abbreviated assessment process will be done. It will include things such as: 

• Spouse reference 
• updates on job description or ministry skills 
• Call to Ministry 
• International testing 

Along with these things, another local interview will be held with your anticipated future supervisor. You will also be a part of a Reliant interview where you will discuss some of the information found on the international testing packet. After this, your future supervisor and Reliant interviewer will make a decision in regards to the transfer. Then, if the transfer is approved, you will be able to accept the transfer. 

Returning to MTD

International Orientation 

During the transfer from a US missionary to an International missionary, you will not need to go  through another training, but attend an international orientation. During this orientation, Reliant will call you and explain the aspects of employment that are unique to you, discuss your anticipated timeline and other specific next steps.

MTD Hopes and Timeline 

When do you plan to start MTD for your international role, and how much time do you plan to devote to MTD?

• When do you plan to transition away from current job responsibilities?
• Do you need to change your employment status while you raise additional support (you have the opportunity to change to Associate or a Part-Time status in order to accrue funds more quickly)? If so, when?
• When do you hope to attend MTI cross-cultural training?
• When do you hope to complete your fund-raising? (Fundraising must be completed in order to be Released to your new assignment.)
• When do you hope to move to your international ministry location?

International Support Goal and Bonuses 

• Salary will change from market base to needs base and SGW will reflect that 
• A new tool is used (not SG calculator) 
• Need budget information from future supervisor 

International Checklist and Other Logistics 

1. At 50% of your international support goal, register for COMPASS training with MTI – make sure these plans have been approved by Reliant and your current supervisor first
2. Between 50-80% of your international support goal, contact finance@reliant.org to set up a time to discuss international banking plans & international reimbursements
3. At around 80% of your international support goal (or around when you attend MTI), email international@reliant.org requesting an official transfer date (submit a Missionary Change Notification form with your international ministry assignment, supervisor, etc.?)

• There is a new RTA required 
• Plane tickets are purchased after RTA is confirmed 
• Salary & Insurance will change to int'l
