Info

This information is also found in the New Staff Training manual: 4.7 Call Back for a Decision

Many of the tips for your first phone call also apply here.

  • Call the person when you said you would. Put the names and times of those to be called back in your schedule.
  • If you did not set a specific time, the “Golden Hours” are still the best time to reach someone.
  • Have your notes and calendar handy.
  • Stand while you make your calls.
  • Consider using a hands-free headset.
  • Take a deep breath and relax before dialing the phone.
  • Pray briefly before you dial.
  • Get straight to the point. You do not need to establish a great deal of rapport. They know why you are calling.

Great! Well, I was calling about our meeting together last Friday. You mentioned that I should be sure to get back to you, so I was calling to see if you had made a decision on becoming a ministry partner for Reliant?

Upon asking for their decision, politely pause and wait for their response.
