How We Will Learn

Large Group

Many of our sessions will begin with a lecture and discussion format. Our experienced instructor will take you through the key concepts. Responsibility: Take notes, interact with the material.

Table Group Workshops

After many teaching sessions, assignments will be given to write, memorize, recite, organize, or practice. These small group workshops give you a starting space with a few other new missionaries, and an experienced MTD coach, who will give you critical feedback as you adapt the material to your specific mission.

Homework

Usually located in the evenings, individual times are assigned for you to work and refine on your own. Perfect for those who need to "get away" to reflect and improve.

Role-Play Practice

A key component of these trainings is “trying it.” Many of our sessions will be devoted to finding another partner or two and role-playing your way through MTD skills. We know "role playing" can feel a little funny sometimes, but taking advantage of this friendly "fake" environment is worth it—rather lose your words here then in front of a donor! Whether you are practicing or listening, this will immerse you in the material. Plus this exposes you to the entire room of new missionaries and new ideas. Responsibility: be available and spend time with everyone, take advice graciously and give honest and caring feedback.
