You may come across donors who prefer giving by check. Below, you'll find scripts for getting these folks set up. Please feel free to tweak these scripts so they're in your voice!

Earlier, I said that before I left, I’d share more with you about how to start giving. I mentioned that most people give to Reliant through our online donor website. It’s safe, secure, and easy to use, and you can start, stop, or change your giving at any time. You can sign up to give your monthly gift, where you can have your gifts given automatically each month through your checking or savings account or through your credit card. Would it make sense for you to give that way?" No. I’m really not comfortable putting my information online. "No problem. I totally understand; not everyone is comfortable putting their information online. We can still get you signed up to have your gifts given automatically each month through your checking or savings account or through your credit card outside of the donor website. Would it make sense for you to sign up this way?" No. I’d really prefer not to give automatically. Is it possible for me to send a check each month? "Absolutely! For income tax purposes, each gift must be made payable to Reliant Mission. In order to get your giving started, we need to make sure Reliant has all of your information. This form ensures that I have all the correct information to give to them (If you're at an in-person meeting, you can leave them the How to Start Giving Brochure. If you're in a virtual meeting, you can go through the New Gift Form on Staffnet with them to make sure you have all their information.) You can send that first gift in with this card so they will set up your donor account and connect your giving to the account I'm responsible for. Reliant will send you a receipt to confirm that they received it." |

Sure, it's (614) 555-1989 and potential.donor@gmail.com. And yeah, you can use this phone number. "Perfect! Now I just need to confirm how much you'd like to give. You said $100/month, correct?" Yup, that's right! "Thank you again so much for that. Even though I haven't started my ministry yet, people giving now helps build up the Reliant account through which I will receive my paycheck so that once I do start working in the ministry full-time, I will be able to receive a full paycheck. Are you able to send in your first check by the end of this week? Yes, I should be able to do that! "Great! You'll mail it to Reliant Mission - MTD / 11002 Lake Hart Dr, Suite 100 / Orlando, FL / 32832. Please make the check out to 'Reliant Mission," and on the memo line, put my name and 'FD# 1234' so they know who you're giving to. I will send in your New Gift Form with the information you just gave me. Sound good?" Yup, sounds great! "Awesome. Shoot me a text once you've mailed your check so I can look for it on my end. I will reach out on Monday to see if you had a chance to mail in your check if I don't hear from you by then. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help with anything! I will fill out a New Gift Form for you, and all you have to do is send in your first check! I just need your phone number, mailing address, and email address (if it's different from this one). I also need to confirm how much you'd like to give. You said $100/month, correct? If that's not correct, please let me know how much you'd like to give.
