Experience teaches us that information can be critical to the success or failure of a crisis event. For the CMT, outgoing information must be calculated for cost and benefit and should be strictly controlled to reduce the possibility of secondary crises such as destructive rumors. Incoming information should be frequently and openly shared with the CMT so that they can operate with the best, most complete information possible. We recognize that taming the tongue is difficult, so we ask for extra caution in a crisis event and assign trained experts to provide accurate and relevant information updates.
