During any crisis event, Reliant's International Crisis Manager, or by delegation, another member of the ICMT, is the only individual authorized to release information to individuals outside of the ICMT. This includes communicating with staff, donors, family members, the media, and other invested individuals.

No Reliant staff members are authorized to discuss the event with anyone inside or outside the organization without the express written permission from the International Crisis Manager or an approved delegate. This specifically forbids unauthorized communications to all prayer teams, donors, fellow staff members, former staff members, and the media. If solicited, all staff should respond with “no comment” or similar terminology unless given specific authorization by the International Crisis Manager to share specific information.

All information (facts, rumors, reports, news, etc.) related to the crisis event in the organization must be reported to the International Crisis Manager or approved delegate immediately. Oftentimes, team members are encouraged to submit ideas and suggestions as well through their leadership to the International Crisis Manager.

Experience teaches us that information can be critical to the success or failure of a crisis event. For the ICMT, outgoing information will be calculated for cost and benefit and should be strictly controlled to reduce the possibility of secondary crises such as destructive rumors. Incoming information should be frequently and openly shared with the ICMT so that they can operate with the best, most complete information possible. We recognize that taming the tongue is difficult, so we ask for extra caution in a crisis event and assign trained experts to provide accurate and relevant information updates.
