Reliant has a travel insurance policy called Business Travel Accident Insurance, effective the first day you begin employment with Reliant for when your traveling for Reliant.  This policy provides $100,000 worth of Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance to all employees in the event that an accident disables or takes the life of the employee while traveling on business in the US.  The beneficiary of this coverage will be the same beneficiaries designated on your Lincoln Group Life Beneficiary Form.  

This policy also provides additional coverage such as: 

  • Up to $50,000 for emergency evacuation due to injury or sickness commencing during the course of a scheduled US business trip.
  • Travel assistance benefits provided by ChartisAmerican International Group (AIG).
  • Up to $10,000 for repatriation of the insured person's remains to the current place of primary residence. 

 

This travel brochure (Travel Assist) has a complete list of services offered by Chartis.  Included on the back of the brochure is a cut-out wallet size card.  Take the card and fill it out with the following information:

Keep this card with you when you travel in the US on Reliant business. 

Use the numbers on the Chartis Brochure: in the US and Canada 877-249-5197; outside the US (01-715-295-9624 (collect).  Please call these numbers for any medical assistance, medical evacuation, repatriation (arrangements for the return of bodily remains), legal assistance, lost luggage/passport, or other related US travel assistance.  

Note: Claims for reimbursement of covered expenses must be submitted within 20 days of the event of the loss, or as soon thereafter as reasonably possible.

Definitions

Trip - means a trip taken by an Insured which begins when the Insured leaves his or her residence or place of regular employment for the purpose of going on the trip (whichever occurs last), and is deemed to end when the Insured returns from the trip to his or her residence or place of regular employment (whichever occurs first).  However, the trip is deemed to exclude any period of time during which the Insured is on an authorized leave of absence or vacation or travel to and from the Insured’s place of regular employment. 

While on the Business of the Policyholder (Reliant) - means while on assignment by or at the direction of the Policyholder for the purpose of furthering the business of the Policyholder, but does not include any period of time:  (1) while the Insured Person is working at his or her regular place of employment; (2) during the course of everyday travel to and from work; or (3) during an authorized leave of absence or vacation. 

AIG Travel Assistance Insurance Policy  

  • 24 Hour Accident, Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage and can extend to spouse/family members
  • Will pay benefits regardless of Workers’ Compensation benefits
  • Closes coverage gap when employee traveling on business diverts from path for person sojourn/trip
  • Excess medical, to supplement private or group health benefits, while traveling on business:
  • Will pay medical expenses due to accidents for:
  • Hospital Room & Board
  • Intensive Care Room & Board
  • Outpatient Emergency
  • Surgical Benefits
