Direct Deposit Options

Note

When you launch overseas, we will no longer withhold state taxes from your paycheck. There are a few states that may still require you to report income and pay taxes. Please consult with a local tax professional.


We have a variety of ways that International workers receive their paycheck, depending on security, banking, and visa needs.

Direct Deposit

Most often, Reliant will

since then, you can update that information here - Direct Deposit. If you are serving in a sensitive location, funds will be deposited under the name of Reliant's Legal Entity.

To access funds from your US bank overseas, you can either wire it to a foreign bank account or withdraw cash from ATMs. ATM fees are reimbursable for international workers.

Reliant does not have the ability to direct deposit into an International bank account.  However, you can request a monthly wire.

You can request a monthly wire of up to 100% of your paycheck to your International bank account.  There is an $10.00 service fee that is be charged to the account for which you are responsible for each wire.

Reliant requires you to keep a stateside bank account open even if you choose the monthly wire option to your International bank account

ATM Reimbursements

Before leaving for your international ministry location, contact the Employment Services Department to discuss your banking plans and whether ATM reimbursements may make sense for you.  Typically, missionaries are not eligible to reimburse ATM fees, but as an international missionary, if it is necessary for safety or other reasons for you to withdraw funds using an ATM, you may be able to reimburse the associated fees.

NOTE: Some countries are on a no-banking list and will not be able to receive a wire.

Foreign Entity

Sometimes, international workers need to be employed by an in-country organization to meet their visa requirements. In this case, Reliant is able to send your salary to a foreign non-profit in the form of a grant. In this scenario, you will be considered a part-time employee of Reliant and required to have a small salary deposited in a US bank account as well, allowing for 403b9 contributions and reimbursements. Please reach out to international@reliant.org if you are interested in this option and we will work through the details with you.

Salary Advance

Sometimes International workers need to put up a large amount of money at once. For instance, a landlord may require several months to a year of rent up front. You are able to request a payroll advance for these situations.
