Personal vehicle usage for Reliant ministry business

If a Reliant Missionary Member drives their personal car (or even borrows a friend’s car) and gets into an accident when conducting Reliant ministry business, generally the member's personal auto insurance policy is primary for both collision damage to their vehicle (or the one they borrowed) and, if applicable, any damage done to the other vehicle that was hit.

In light of this, Reliant strongly urges each Reliant Missionary Member should strongly consider:

  • Carrying Carry collision damagecoverage to cover any damages to their personal vehicle.
  • Carrying Carry $100,000/$300,000 in liability coverage on their personal auto insurance policy.
  • Consider carrying a $1,000,000 (or more) Personal Umbrella Policy

Financial Cost Note

Both Reliant’s mileage reimbursement rate and the local mileage Ministry Expense Bonus are set at levels which allow the Reliant Missionary to purchase adequate auto insurance coverage for their personal vehicles that will be driven for Reliant ministry purposes.
