Two weeks ago, we sent out an email asking the question "Is your retirement savings resilient enough to withstand "Mayhem"? We provided a Mayhem Protection Checklist with gift card prize incentives for participants who check off the recommended steps and fill out our Mayhem Checklist google response form. This week we're challenging you to "put both feet in the water." Take up the 1 hour challenge under the Platinum Coverage on that Mayhem Protection Checklist.  Even if you already did this exercise two weeks ago, we'd invite you to repeat the exercise. This time come up with your own questions to ask yourself. We love hearing from our employees so we have created a second Platinum Protection google form that allows you to type a brief response to let us know some key take-ways you gained from this experience. Completing this step and filling out the provided Platinum Protection google form will give you additional entries in our gift card drawing later this montha 403(b) Retirement Saving Month email with this year's theme based on driving. We shared the 403(b) Month – Keys to Retirement Checklist and invited you to join in a prize drawing for those who complete parts of the checklist and submit their response (details below).

We started with this idea:

Your retirement journey begins with knowing where you want to go.

But even with a destination in mind, sometimes we need to ask for directions—whether from a trusted person or a GPS—to help us get there.

This weeks' challenge: Road-tested lessons from those further down the retirement highway

A recent article from U.S. News & World Report shares the top 10 regrets retirees have when reflecting on their financial journey. You can read the full article here:

Here’s a quick summary:

  1. Not saving more – Many wish they had consistently saved 10% or more of their income.
  2. Saying yes too often – Generosity toward others sometimes came at the cost of personal savings.
  3. Ignoring inflation – Rising costs caught many off guard.
  4. Waiting too long to plan – Delayed planning meant missed growth opportunities.
  5. Underestimating health care costs – Medicare doesn’t cover everything.
  6. Skipping long-term care insurance – Many regret not securing coverage earlier.
  7. Keeping two homes – Managing multiple properties proved costly.
  8. Investing improperly – Some wish they had used Roth accounts or worked with a financial planner.
  9. Claiming Social Security too early – Early claims led to reduced benefits.
  10. Retiring too soon – Many wish they had worked longer to boost savings.

Take 20 minutes to reflect and pray through this list. Ask yourself:

  • Are there any items I haven’t fully considered?
  • Is there a way I can adjust my current savings or planning to avoid these regrets?

Circle one or two areas that stand out to you—and consider what small steps you can take this month to "course correct" in these areas.

When you're done - fill out this quick response form to let us know you completed this challenge.
