What is the Diversity Scholarship?

Over the last season, the Reliant board and many of our current and past missionaries have been having discussions about raising support as a missionary of color. We have had discussions about how we can grow in how we initially train our missionaries, as well as how we coach and help sustain missionaries. As part of that discussion, one important piece of information that came out of that time was supporting missionaries in their initial support raising season. We recognize that there are often cultural barriers that can cause MTD to be more challenging. As one of our initial steps, the board has set aside scholarship money for Reliant to be able to help missionaries in their initial MTD.

Who is the scholarship offered to?

This scholarship is offered to

...

anyone in a support-based position with Reliant who self-selects that they come from an ethnic

...

minority background AND opts into the scholarship.

How do I opt

...

into the scholarship?

Our current process is our program liaisons will reach out to individuals who have self-selected that they come from an ethnically diverse background and offer the scholarship. The missionary then just needs to reply to that email confirming that they would like to receive this scholarship.

What amount is the scholarship?

The scholarship amount is up to $2,000 that will be transferred into the missionary's account. Depending on the missionary status (Fixed Term or Long Term), that amount may be transferred all at once at hire, or it might be transferred in $500 increments over time.
