Info
titleThings to Know
  • If enrolling Reliant needs to know within 60 days of the event - this includes the time to collect and submit the enrollment forms to the insurance company.
  • If terminating coverage with Reliant we need to know within 30 days of the event - this includes the time to collect and submit the enrollment forms to the insurance company.
  • Coverage is effective the date of the Qualifying Event.

Another time you can enroll or change your benefits is if you experience a qualifying event. This is a life change that allows you to change your insurance selections. Types of qualifying events are marriage, birth or adoption, and loss of coverage if a parent or spouse loses or changes employment. The thing to remember regarding qualifying events is that you have a limited time to let us know. If you and or your spouse or child is coming onto Reliant’s insurance, you have 60 days to let us know and get you enrolled. That includes the time to collect and process the necessary paperwork. For termination of coverage, if you are leaving Reliant’s insurance, we need to know within 30 days of the qualifying event, again including time to collect and submit paperwork to the insurance company.

Types of Qualifying Events

...

  • Marriage
  • Birth of a newborn
  • Adoption, or placement of a child in your home for adoption
  • Death
  • Loss of coverage - If you were covered on your parent's or spouse's employer's group plan and they had a loss or change of employment that caused you to lose your coverage.

To enroll your dependents under your medical, dental or vision insurance, you must:

  • Enroll them within 60 days of the event - this includes the time to collect and submit the enrollment forms to the insurance company.
  • Coverage is effective the date of the Qualifying Event.
  •  Once you add any eligible dependents to your insurance plan, no further changes can be made until the next open enrollment period. If your spouse would become employed and gain insurance of their own, they would need to review Insurance Waiver Options and would not be eligible to participate in the plan until the next open enrollment period or another qualifying event.

You may also change your insurance plan coverage during this qualifying event time. Please contact Office HR at office.employment@reliant.org to verify that any costs (deductibles met under your current plan) would transfer to the new plan. It seems that not all costs incurred would transfer depending on the situation, please seek clarification prior to finalizing your decision.

To enroll a child on your dental insurance, you must:
