Allowable waivers

There are a limited set of allowable circumstances for which a benefits-eligible  Reliant missionary has the right to waive Reliant’s medical coverage.

  1. Employer-offered medical coverage through a parent for missionaries younger than 26
  2. Employer-offered medical coverage through your spouse’s employment
  3. Medicare/Medicaid
  4. Veteran’s Administration coverage through the military
  5. Reliant Spouse covers you on their insurance

Info

Please note that to be eligible for a waiver, the parent's or spouse's medical coverage must be offered by their employer.

  2. Email the completed and signed waiver form along with a copy of the certificate of coverage or medical insurance card to benefits@reliant.org.
Warning
titleThings to Know

The submission deadline for medical termination is within 30 days of the qualifying event.

  • For refunds, this 30-day window must include a minimum of 5 business days for Employment Services to complete the request. Please keep this in mind when submitting a waiver form along with the required proof of insurance to terminate coverage with GuideStone.
  • If GuideStone does not receive the required waiver form and proof of insurance within 30 days, a refund may not be available for the MTD account.
  • In cases in which additional communication is needed between Employment Services and the missionary to obtain all the necessary documentation for this request, determination on if a credit/refund will be issued to the MTD account is subject to Reliant's determination on whether or not the necessary documentation was received in a reasonable timeframe for Reliant to meet this 30-day window.

Loss of Coverage

If your coverage ceases due to a change of employment by your spouse/parent or other "qualifying events" that gives you the ability to enroll in Reliant’s medical coverage within 30 days of that event. It is your responsibility to inform Reliant of loss of coverage before you lose it or soon thereafter if the loss is sudden. It is also your responsibility to be covered by Reliant’s medical coverage if you do lose your other allowable coverage. These policies exist due to reasons that are guided by IRS policies and governmental requirements for employers and employees.

Tip

If you are turning 26 in the next calendar year, please see Loss of Parents' Insurance Coverage at Age 26.
