Goal: To determine to what degree the spouse/fiance or parents (especially of candidates right out of college) are supportive emotionally and/or spiritually of the candidate doing MTD or being in vocational ministry.


IDEAL

  • Spouse and candidate are well educated on ministry and MTD, and have communicated clearly through lifestyle and financial implications and spouse indicates strong support and sense of call to ministry together (even if the spouse will not do all the ministry).
  • Parents indicate strong support.

AREA OF CONCERN

  • Spouse is hesitant about MTD or has concern about the strain on finances or family/marriage obligations, stronger than "typical fears"
  • Applicant has been married one year or less or is getting married within a year.
  • Parents of recent college grads having extreme concerns or extreme negative emotional responses to MTD or vocational ministry (assuming no financial dependence)


SIGNIFICANT CONCERN

  • Spouse is not supportive of MTD or being in vocational ministry.
  • Spouse reports that they do not think their spouse is qualified for vocational ministry
  • Staff and spouse have never discussed MTD; spouse is unaware of fundraising component
  • Parents of recent college grads having extreme concerns or extreme negative emotional responses to MTD or vocational ministry (assuming financial dependence)

AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFYING

  • Spouse indicates to Reliant that they are in forceful disagreement with vocational ministry or the MTD process.
