Supervisor Responsibilities
We consider three primary areas of supervisor responsibilities in the lives of Reliant International Field Staff:
- Strategic Planning
- Help set the vision and strategy for the ministry.
- Create a job description that is in line with the ministry vision
- Connect the worker with training opportunities for their ministry role.
- Accountability
- Meet at least once a month
- Discuss topics related to both life and ministry. Not sure where to start? See Questions to Ask Reliant Field Staff Regularly.
- Complete an annual review with the worker. Reliant will send a template for this, or you can use your own.
- Care for Health
- Be curious and observe any areas where the goer may need more support for themselves or their family (physically, mentally, relationally, spiritually, emotionally).
- Connect the worker with helpful resources
- Engage Reliant and the Sending Church when more care is needed.
Setting Expectations
Reliant aims to serve supervisors and teams by creating structures for these processes, without dictating the content. Each worker will maintain a Guiding Docs Workbook where sending, field, and care expectations are communicated across all the parties.
Advisory Boards
There are times when an Intl Worker is in more of an entrepreneurial role and does not have a direct supervisor. In these cases, Reliant recommends that the worker form an advisory team of 2-4 people to function as their supervisory structure.
For an overview of this process see Advisory Boards.
The Guiding Docs workbook also contains bonus tabs for Advisory Boards (you may have to "unhide them").
