Aetna’s updated member website includes enhanced GOP tools designed to simplify direct billing and reduce out‑of‑pocket expenses.


What Is a GOP?

A Guarantee of Payment is a document Aetna sends to a provider that confirms coverage and guarantees payment directly to the clinic or hospital.
This allows members to avoid paying upfront for most covered services when visiting direct‑pay providers.


When You Need a GOP

You should request a GOP before any scheduled medical appointment, especially when:


How to Request a GOP (Step‑by‑Step)

Step 1: Search for a Provider

Use the Aetna International member website and choose Find Health Care. This page has been updated with a five‑step GOP infographic to guide you

Step 2: Make an Appointment

Share your Aetna ID card information with the provider.

Step 3: Submit a GOP Request

Use the Request a Guarantee of Payment button now shown on the provider details page.

Step 4: Bring Your ID Card + GOP to the Appointment

If your plan includes a copay or coinsurance, you’ll pay only that amount at the visit. Aetna covers the rest.

Step 5: Receive Care — Aetna Pays the Provider Directly

You focus on your health; claims are settled directly after the visit.
