Ever had someone who keeps saying they wanted to give to your ministry but doesn't? This page is for you!
Not everyone loves to give online. Some would rather start their giving by calling Reliant's Gift Services department (this can be done Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm, EDT by calling 877-614-4600). Some would rather fill out a form. Your job is to discover what flavor your supporter prefers and offer it to them.
Detailed below is how to send a “snail-mail” packet for someone to start their gift. It works the same way as signing up online, without the hassle of creating a password. This mail also has "staying power." It lasts much longer than a text or email as it sits on the table or countertop as a physical reminder to your supporter of what they want to do - invest in your ministry!
Gather the following materials:
- Order free copies of the How to Give Offline Brochure. *We're working on a print-it-yourself version of this. Sorry it's not currently available. Your donor can print their own here, although that defeats the purpose of this packet.
- Something with your smiling face on it (a prayer card, magnet, recent prayer letter, etc)
- Two envelopes
- Two stamps
- A notecard, Post-It, or slip of paper - to write a personal note
Then do this:
- Write a personal note. Let it reference the last time you talked/met and how excited they were to join your team as a financial partner in ministry.
Example: Kate, It was so great to meet you last Tuesday. I appreciated hearing your heart for sending field workers like me to reach students on campus. I’m excited to team up with you! Last time we talked, you mentioned your desire to start giving. One of the easiest ways to jump in is by filling out this form and mailing it in the enclosed envelope. Other options include calling Reliant Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, EDT at 877-614-4600, or going to Reliant.org/my.name. Let me know if you have ANY questions, and thank you for your partnership! - Add your name & FD# to the Giving Form under the “Recurring Gift Information” section. There is no specific spot to do this. Just add it in the blank space on the left.
- Include something with your smiling face and a reminder about your ministry. Maybe this is your Ministry, a magnet, or your latest newsletter. It doesn’t have to be something fancy; just something to help them remember who you are and why they were excited about supporting you.
- Address one envelope to your donor.
*Your personal note, the Giving Form, your picture, and the return envelope will all need to fit inside this envelope.
Don’t have their address? Ask for it! - Address the return envelope to Reliant. Add stamp.
