What Does it Mean to Be an MTD Coach?

Through research and experience, Reliant has found that the best coaching for MTD is done with regular and frequent connections with the support raiser.   As an extension of this, we have found that a weekly coaching connection is usually far more effective for the missionary raising support than a meeting with an expert coach just once or twice.

The role of the MTD coach is to come alongside the missionary as they work on MTD fund-raising.  The coach encourages the fund-raising missionary, affirming positive action, and helping the missionary see the opportunities.  The coach reviews actions and progress toward MTD.  This provides weekly structure and helps the missionary keep his/her eyes on the important tasks during fund-raising.

The coach will check in weekly and make sure the missionary is making the courageous choices necessary for completing their team.  All of our coaches have learned, from experience, the key actions needed to build a thriving ministry team. We trust the missionary will allow the coach to guide them, while also providing honest feedback about their progress, questions and support raising activities.

The process of raising support is as heavily spiritual and emotional as it is mental or physical.  It is quite common for God to use this period of time to reveal character issues or misplaced beliefs, show his heart and calling, or build the foundations of his future plans for the person. So, the coach also supports the missionary as they  address fears and obstacles,  and offer their experience, encouragement, and wisdom.
