One of the most important preparations for a medical or mental health emergency is the evaluation of local hospitals and health facilities. Having a prepared evaluation including location, specialization, quality, affordability, and accessibility can hasten life-saving decisions during a crisis. Each location will be responsible for researching the local hospitals and health facilities and reviewing the evaluation with the International Program Team Lead when the decision is first made to operate in a foreign country. After that point, they should be reviewed/confirmed annually or modified when appropriate.

Evaluations should be made for each location and documented and a copy kept on file with Reliant so that it can be easily accessible during a crisis with field team member in that location. If evaluations of local hospitals and health facilities have been made, and locations of where team members would go in cases requiring medical assistance, this will help direct the Reliant CMT in the case of an emergency situation.
