As a leader, review the Safety Guide. This document outlines Reliant's commitment to a safe and healthy workplace. It details what should be done in the case of an accident either while at work or while driving along with links to the Incident Report.
Staff members must report all accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to their supervisors and to the Reliant Central Office. If a staff member (employee or associate) or volunteer is involved in an accident or near-miss (a near-miss is defined as an event that could have caused injury to a person or damage to equipment, building, or materials), and Incident/Near Miss Report must be filled out within 24 hours by the supervisor of the staff member involved in the incident or another leader in the church or ministry. Just as leaders have a responsibility for the physical safety of employees and volunteers, the emotional and spiritual safety of your entire team must be a high priority. Working in a ministry setting is a unique employment experience, whether you work 5 hours a week or 50. High levels of stress and burnout are prevalent among those in ministry. The immensely personal nature of the work may lead to blurred relational boundaries, unreasonable expectations of staff, and even spiritual and emotional abuse. Caring for the safety of your staff is essential for a effective and fruitful ministry.
