If a donor mails an end-of-year check directly to you, you must save the envelope and send it in with the check. The December 2018 postmark on the envelope serves as proof that it is a 2018 donation. If a check is dated in 2018, but the postmark on the envelope is 2019, that will not count as a 2018 gift.

Please check your mailboxes early in the new year for these types of gifts and immediately send them to Reliant. They must be received by January 15, 2019, to be included with 2018 gifts.

IMPORTANT - With the added volume of checks being processed at the end of the year, checks dated 2018 received past December 31st, 2018 that are NOT accompanied by a postmarked envelope will be processed as 2019. Reliant will not contact the missionary regarding 2018 checks that are missing the 2018 post-marked envelope as in previous years. This responsibility will rest with the missionary to understand the requirement of the 2018 post-marked envelope and include that when mailing the check to Reliant.

November 30, 2018

Gifts in for expiring backpay. This is the last business day for gifts to be received by Reliant to help pay your December 14 payroll, including any 2016 backpay that will expire after December payroll is completed.

December 24-25, 2018

No gift processing. Reliant office closed.

December 26-28, 2018

Limited Reliant Office personnel available. Please make sure if you call the office and are sent to voicemail that you leave a message with your name and phone number.
December 28th will be the last business day the Reliant office is open in 2018

December 31, 2018

Final day for 2018 tax year gifts. Donors who want to count their gift as a tax deduction in 2018 need to give it by the final day of the year. Checks dated and postmarked by December 31, 2018, but received in 2019 will continue to be processed as 2018 gifts through January 15.

January 1, 2019

No gift processing. Reliant office closed.

January 2, 2019

Deadline to receive 2018 gifts to pay your paycheck on January 15. December 2018 gifts received after this cutoff (but by the January 15 deadline) will still be counted as December gifts, but they will be reserved and used toward the balance available to pay your February 15, 2019 paycheck.

January 15, 2019

All December gifts sent directly to you by donors must be received by Reliant by January 15. This is the final accounting deadline for 2018 "late checks" to be received in the Reliant office to be recorded as 2018 giving for tax-deduction purposes. This only counts for checks that were postmarked in 2018. (Our auditors check the postmark date on the envelope to prove the donation was mailed in 2018, so please save the envelope and mail it with the check!) Please check your mailboxes early in the new year for these types of gifts and immediately send them to Reliant to be received by the January 15 deadline.
If you are mailing checks using a guaranteed delivery service for delivery on January 15th - please make sure you select the delivery option for early AM delivery or guaranteed delivery by 1:00 PM. To allow for sufficient processing time by our Gift Services team, Reliant will be unable to guarantee a 2018 gift date for packages containing 2018 checks received after 1:00 PM EST on January 15th.
Deadline for any remaining 2018 reimbursements to be submitted to Reliant by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. You must submit any remaining October, November or December 2018 reimbursements by this date. The normal three-month submission window does not apply during this time of year.

January 18, 2019

Reimbursements paid. Reimbursements submitted in December will be eligible for payment on this date. Also any previously submitted 2018 reimbursements that now have funding available will pay out on this day.

January 31, 2019

Reimbursements paid. Any 2018 reimbursements submitted in January, and any remaining unpaid reimbursements from 2016 and 2017, that are eligible for payment will be paid on this date. We will use the full MTD account balance available for payment, which includes any additional December 2018 gifts that were received by January 15. Please keep in mind Reliant can only pay reimbursements once a missionary has received all outstanding backpay.
