Goal: Long-Term MTD Health

  • Our desire is to create a framework that will assist churches, MTD coaches, and individual missionaries to achieve in achieving long-term MTD health.
  • Our working definition for ideal MTD health is a missionary field employee who has enough funds coming in regularly to meet their ongoing ministry needs (including salary, ministry expense bonuses, and reimbursements) with the addition of a 3-month surplus in their MTD account.

Fundraising Status expansion
In order to assist in achieving this outcome, the fundraising statuses have been changed from “Initial” and “Released” to five new statuses: Initial, Sustaining, Growing, Restoring, and Rebuilding. Functionally, there is one status for missionaries in their initial season of MTD (Initial) and four that apply when they exit their Initial fundraising phase.

Initial MTD status

  • Initial Initial
    • Who does this apply to?
      • Missionaries who have finished New Staff Training and have yet to reach 100% current recurring monthly support.
    • What does it mean?
      • The missionary field employee dedicates all of their Reliant working hours to MTD until the missionary field employee hits 100% current recurring monthly support.

Once the missionary field employee reaches 100%, they are released to their ministry assignment but are guided to maintain MTD health by entering into one of the following Ongoing MTD statuses.

...

  • Sustaining
      • Who: Missionaries who are released and have an MTD Health Score of 95 or above.
      • What does it mean?
        • The missionary field employee continues at their ministry assignment and has the peace of mind that their fund-raising status is in a healthy state.
        • However, they are encouraged to “tithe their time” to MTD (primarily toward cultivation).
  • Growing
      • Who: Missionaries who are released and have an MTD Health Score below 95 , but above 85.
      • What does it mean?
        • The missionary field employee continues at their ministry assignment , but is tasked to grow their account balance (and/or their current percentage) by “tithing their time” toward MTD with the help of local supervision and/or coaching.
  • Restoring
      • Who: Missionaries who are released and have an MTD Health score below 85 , but above 75.
      • What does it mean?
        • The missionary field employee continues to be released to their assignment , but is directed to designate an increased percentage of their time to MTD.
        • In this stage, it is hoped that one will set aside 25% or more of their time for MTD on a weekly basis.
  • Rebuilding
      • Who: Missionaries who have an MTD Health Score below 75.
      • What does it mean?
        • A conversation is initiated about fully removing the missionary field employee from their ministry assignment in order to focus on MTD.

What is my current MTD Health Score?

You can find your current MTD Health Score and Fundraising status on Toolbox at MTD Health ScoreTo make this system the most effective, each transition to a new status will be accompanied by action from both Reliant and local leadership. Reliant began tracking MTD Health Scores and sending correspondence to field missionaries in May of 2021. However, Reliant does not expect full adoption of this new system and its ramifications on a local level until May of 2022.
