There are two types of Insurance Purchased for International Trips (ex. LT, Mission Trips, etc.): Liability and Medical

Liability insurance for each event is purchased by Dave Meldrum-Green.  You will need to give Dave details for him to send to the insurance broer to purchase the insurance.  This insurance amount will change each year.  It is hard to budget ahead of time b/c the insurance will not give us a real quote without all of this info.  

1. Names
2. If they are a participant, Reliant intern, or Reliant employed missionary staff
3. The time they will be there in the country (or number of weeks).
4. Dates of the program. 

 And if the event is using rental cars:

1. Names of the drivers and their age
2. If they are a participant, Reliant intern or Reliant employed missionary staff.

Medical Insurance: This is a medical day tripper insurance that would be purchased by the special event coordinator for international event participants/interns/and some staff. Those Reliant employees that have enrolled in our medical insurance do not need separate medical insurance.  Here is a list of who does need it...

All event participants need this insurance. 

All Reliant interns also need this insurance (even though they are employed they did not enroll in our medial insurance)

And any Reliant staff that did not enroll in our medical insurance. (Ex.  some staff spouses are not enrolled (ex. Beth Courtney) , some staff opted out b/c they went with their non Reliant employed spouses insurance.)   Send a list of all the staff and staff spouses to our Benefits Coordinator and ask them to go through the staff list attending the event to make sure they have enrolled in our medical insurance. 

Why are we buying this medical insurance?

For international summer programs, in regards to medical insurance and medical coverage…

GCM carries a short-term supplemental insurance coverage that supplements, but does not replace their personal medical insurance.  We will provide the summer program director with all the insurance cards and documents that they would need if something were to happen.  The summer program director will be responsible for sharing the information of what is and what is not covered by the supplemental insurance to each participant.  For additional information, review the STM GCM medical permission and liability waiver and release form that each participant has to sign in order to participate in the program.

What we need from director to order the insurance

Flight Intenaries. (These do not go to the insurance company, but we do not want to order insurance until flights have been ordered b/c we know that means that the dates will not change as to when they will be there). 

Dates they will be at the event.

Full Legal Name

Gender

Citizenship (US or not)

What medical short term insurance do we use?

Maximum Coverage: $1,000,000

Deductible. $0.

Easiest to pay with credit card- get immediate coverage that way, but they can send an invoice to pay by check.  This company does not give us tax exemption. 

After ordering the insurance....

I wanted to go ahead and send you all the Honduras LT STM Insurance documents.  I would recommend that you have these printed before you go so that you have access to them there if you need them.

The dates of our trip are June 4 through July 29. I attached a folder that includes an Excel document with all the participants’ info and the different flight itineraries. Let me know if you need a different flight itinerary format.
