What is a Sponsor Church?

A Sponsor Church is a church that is financially supporting GCM on your behalf and is committed to sending you as a missionary to the field.  You may have many churches that are a part of GCM's ministry team on your behalf, but you may assign only one Sponsor Church to receive the discounted administrative assessment. Typically, a missionary will select the church that is giving the largest financial gift to GCM on their behalf as their Sponsor Church.

What is the benefit of having a Sponsor Church?

International Missionaries are eligible to receive a 3% administrative assessment instead of the normal 12% for any financial gifts sent to GCM on their behalf by their Sponsor Church.  In order to receive the discounted assessment, the missionary needs to let GCM know which church is their Sponsor Church.  

How do I notify GCM of my Sponsor Church?

Send an email to hr@gcmweb.org telling GCM the name of your Sponsor Church.  Include contact information for the church if available, such as physical mailing address, website address, and email address.  Include your name and fund number in the email.

When should I notify GCM of my Sponsor Church?  

Notify GCM by emailing hr@gcmweb.org during or immediately after attending New Staff Training.

Am I eligible for the Sponsor Church as an Associate Staff Member raising to go full-time as an International Missionary?

Typically, Associate Staff are not eligible for the Sponsor Church discount.  However, as an Associate Staff member raising support to become an International Missionary, you are eligible for the Sponsor Church discount beginning right after you complete New Staff Training.  Be sure to notify GCM of your Sponsor Church at or right after New Staff Training so that you receive the benefit while you are an Associate Staff member.

Can I change my Sponsor Church?

Yes, you may change your Sponsor Church if your church stops giving to GCM on your behalf or if another church comes on GCM's Ministry Team on your behalf and is giving a larger gift than your current Sponsor Church.  You must notify GCM of this change.  See How Do I notify GCM of my Sponsor Church above.
