On occasion, and especially for short-term (or fixed-term) support raisers, milestones are not met by the missionary. In response to this, often churches will ask for some stronger accountability. Reliant then creates what's called a Standard of Performance (SOP) specific to the individual.
What is a Standard of Performance
An SOP
...
explicitly outlines the minimums that we expect of the missionary moving forward, instead of making goals that are suggestions. This is not a punishment but meant to help motivate and push each missionary to meet their goals and get fully funded.
...
It is meant to add structure to the week-to-week journey with support raising for missionaries.
How to Create Goals for Standard of Performance
Standard of Performance Process
- After a discussion with leadership, a decision to create an SOP is made
- Create goals based on previous performance and needed progress
- Deliver SOP to supervisor for approval
- Once approved, make sure missionary and coach also have a copy
- Coach will use SOP to dictate goals for the period of time SOP dictates
- Coach will update Reliant Central on progress, then Reliant will update the supervisor
- At the end of the allotted timeframe, the supervisor and Reliant Central will evaluate progress and take action steps for the missionary moving forward.
- Possible deferral until next year
- Second SOP for continued progress
- Enough progress to let the missionary go back to raising without strict expectations
